Here’s everything you need to know about Heritage Village, one of the area’s most beloved attractions.

Heritage Village, which shines the spotlight on an earlier era of life in East Texas, is an attraction that guests of all ages and interests are sure to enjoy. The grounds feature dozens of historic buildings, such as an old schoolhouse and schoolyard, a barn, a handful of industrial facilities, some fantastic shops, and a railroad yard. The village also features a fantastic, on-site restaurant called the Pickett House, which serves everything from fried chicken, to country vegetables, to cobbler, to biscuits and cornbread.

In addition to its permanent attractions, Heritage Village also hosts a long list of annual events, such as the Festival of the Arts in March, Western Weekend in March, Dogwood Weekend in April, An Independence Day Picnic in July, the must-attend Ghosts and Legends of Texas Past in September, and the charming Harvest Festival in October.

Of course, one of the very best things about Heritage Village is that it’s delightfully affordable to explore. Admission costs just $5 for adults, and $3 for those under 12. The grounds are open to the public from 9:00am to 3:00pm, Monday to Friday, and from 9:00am to 5:00pm on weekends.
