Heritage Village & Pickett House

Big Thicket National Preserve

The most dense forest region in Texas, and one of the most biodiverse areas in the world outside of the tropics, Big Thicket is a must for any nature lovers visiting Woodville. The forest encompasses nine different ecosystems with an incredible variety of wildlife, making it a fascinating destination for hikers, bird-watchers and hunters. It’s also a great spot for canoeing and kayaking on Village Creek and the Neches River.
Lake Kingston State Park

AllanShivers Library & Museum

A Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, this museum and library is home to antiques and artifacts from the collection of former Texas Governor Allan Shivers. Housed in an 1881 heritage building, the museum is rich in elaborate Victorian décor and exotic souvenirs from the governor’s many safari expeditions.

Heritage Village Museum

Step back in time to experience pioneer life in Southeast Texas. This fascinating heritage village consists of more than 30 buildings, preserved and restored to evoke the spirit of the 1800s. The Village and Museum hosts festivals, workshops and special events year-round. It’s a great place to visit with the whole family!

Showcasing the work of talented local artists, the TCAL features works in all traditional mediums including oils, watercolors, acrylics, pastels, photography, pen-and-ink, charcoal drawings, collage, wood sculpture, ceramics and stained glass. It’s located in Woodville’s “Arts District”, which is a great place for an afternoon stroll.

Steinhagen Lake

Located 18 minutes east of Woodville, in the heart of Martin Dies State Park, Lake Steinhagen (also known as the B.A. Steinhagen Reservoir) is a popular spot for fishing (catfish being the most abundant), boating, hiking and biking.

Lake Sam Rayburn

Located north of Jasper, TX—around a 25 minute drive from our hotel—Lake Sam Rayburn offers some of the best largemouth bass fishing in Texas. It’s also popular with boaters, water skiers and wakeboarders. At 114,400 acres, with 750 miles of shoreline it’s the largest man-made lake in the state.

Woodville’s largest annual event, the Tyler County Dogwood Festival attracts visitors from across the state for a 2-week celebration of spring. Held annually since 1940, the festival features three weekends of festivities including a festival of the arts, a rodeo, a parade, arts fair, fun run and beauty pageant. The festival boasts a beautiful backdrop courtesy of the blooming dogwood trees which are abundant in Woodville.
