BASS FISHING
Are you an outdoor lover looking to try something new? Do you love fishing? Try your hand at bass fishing, an activity that has become a sport in its own right. Bass fishing first became popularized in the mid-nineteenth century and gained a majority of its popularity in the early 1900s. Still, bass fishing remains popular today and you can try it out at Sam Rayburn Reservoir or Big Thicket. Both of these locations are surrounded by beautiful scenery that will help you relax on a nice warm afternoon. Grab a fishing rod, bait and some friends and enjoy a serene day out on the boat.

ALLAN SHIVERS’ LIBRARY & MUSEUM

Allan Shivers was born in 1907 and served as Governor for three full terms, longer than any other Governor in the state. The museum houses mementos from Shivers’ gubernatorial service. The museum offers tours that showcase the Victorian Parlor, Story Room, Trophy Room, and Rare Book Rooms. Tours are offered until 30 minutes before library closing.
